Kano, Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State on Monday, received the Torch of Unity from the National Sports Commission (NSC) ahead of the 2025 National Sports Festival, scheduled to take place in Ogun State from May 16 to May 30, 2025.
Represented by Secretary to the State Government, Umar Faruk-Ibrahim, Yusuf emphasized the importance of peace and unity, stating that sports promote unity, discipline, love and friendship among citizens.
The governor reaffirmed the state’s preparedness to participate fully in the sports festival, highlighting its commitment to showcasing athletes’ talents in events where they have a comparative advantage.
The ‘Gateway Games’ will feature various sports, including football, volleyball and basketball, with thousands of athletes from different states participating to showcase their talents.
