Kano, Oct. 17, 2026 , The Kano State Police Command says it has neutralised two suspected bandits and recovered N10 million ransom in Falgore Forest, Doguwa Local Government Area of the state.

The police said the success was recorded under Operation Kukan Kura, its sustained onslaught against kidnapping, banditry and other violent crimes.

A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Kiyawa, said on Oct. 17 at about midnight, three suspected bandits believed to have emerged from Falgore Forest and suspected to be from Maigwanda Village, Kubau LGA, Kaduna State, came out to collect a ransom of N10 million demanded for the release of one Kabiru Aliyu, 45, of Falgore Village, Doguwa LGA, who was kidnapped on Sept. 11 and spent days in captivity.

“Upon collection of the ransom, the victim was released unharmed. However, while the suspects were returning to their hideout in Falgore Forest shortly after collecting the money, they were ambushed by local hunters known as ‘Yan Bula’.

“During the ambush, two of the suspected bandits were neutralized, while the third suspect escaped with injuries. The entire ransom sum of Ten Million Naira was recovered intact from the neutralized suspects,” Kiyawa said.

He said preliminary investigation revealed the identity of one of the neutralised suspects as one Dogo Isah, a commercial motorcycle rider (Okada), of Maigwanda Village, Kubau LGA, Kaduna State.

The Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Ibrahim Bakori, commended the resilience and commitment of the local hunters ‘Yan Bula’, whose gallant efforts continue to complement Operation Kukan Kura in securing the Falgore Forest axis and its environs.

Consequently, the Commissioner has directed the Area Commander, Divisional Police Officers and tactical teams within the axis to immediately comb the area for possible arrest of the fleeing suspects and recovery of their operational weapons.

Kiyawa said the rescued victim has been debriefed, medically examined and reunited with his family.

The Command reassured the public of its unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property, and solicited continued support through the provision of timely and credible information.
