Kwankwaso responsible for hardship facing Nigeria, says Rarara

Abuja – Popular political musician Dauda Kahutu Rarara has accused former Kano State Governor and Kwankwasiyya leader Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of contributing to some of Nigeria’s current challenges.
Speaking in an interview with SL Update, Rarara said many of the economic and administrative problems facing the country stem from past policies and decisions.
He cited the withholding of local government funds by higher levels of government as a major issue, saying councils should have full control of their finances to drive grassroots development.
“Local government funds are the lifeline of the people. They are what bring government services closer to ordinary citizens at the grassroots level. When those funds are withheld or controlled elsewhere, essential services meant for the people are affected,” he said.
Rarara argued that Nigeria’s current difficulties began when the practice was introduced, and said its effects are still being felt across education, healthcare, water supply and rural infrastructure.
He said sustainable development would require local governments to manage their affairs and resources without interference.
His remarks come amid ongoing debate over local government autonomy and calls for reforms to give councils direct access to allocations and greater independence.
As of the time of filing this report, Kwankwaso and his representatives had not responded to the allegations.
