Gov Yusuf Pledges to Clear N48bn Gratuity, Death Benefits Backlog by 2027

Kano ,Gov.Abba Yusuf of Kano State has promised to settle the N48 billion backlog of gratuities and death benefits owed to retirees in the state before the end of his first tenure in 2027.
The governor made this commitment during the inauguration of the payment of the 5th tranche of N5 billion gratuity and death benefits in Kano.
The governor revealed that his administration has already paid N27 billion out of the N48 billion backlog and plans to flag off the payment of the 6th and 7th batches soon.
He emphasized that the payment is part of efforts to restore the dignity of retired workers and alleviate the hardships faced by families of deceased civil servants.
The President of the Nigerian Union of Pensioners (NUP), Godwin Abumisi, commended the governor for his commitment and urged him to sustain the pace.
The Executive Chairman, Habu Fagge, confirmed that the board had a backlog of N48 billion, out of which N27 billion has been paid.
The Emir of Rano, Muhammad Isa Umar, commended the governor’s efforts, particularly towards retirees and Kano residents.
One of the beneficiaries, Abubakar Musa, expressed gratitude for the governor’s gesture, saying it would alleviate their suffering.
