KNSG Assures Prompt Payment to Boarding School Food Suppliers, Increases Food Price Rate by 82%

The Kano State Government has reassured food suppliers to its 39 boarding schools of prompt payment for their services.
The State Commissioner of Education, Dr. Ali Haruna Makoda, the government will ensure that verified contractors receive their payments on time without any delays.
Dr. Makoda attributed the government’s commitment to improving the schools’ feeding program to the administration of Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf.
He highlighted the significant upgrade in the quality and quantity of food supplied to the boarding schools, citing the governor’s approval to increase the food price rate from N787.8 to N1,430.88, representing an 82% increase.
The commissioner urged contractors to fulfill their contractual obligations, assuring them of the government’s commitment to processing their requests promptly.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on schools feeding programme, Alhaji Umar Musa Gama, praised the governor’s efforts to overhaul the education sector, particularly in reviewing food prices to support the schools’ feeding program.
The Kano State Government has demonstrated its commitment to addressing the challenges of inflation in food prices by reviewing the prices to support contractors.
Contractors, in turn, have assured the government of their commitment to supplying high-quality food to the schools.
The State Ministry of Education oversees 39 boarding schools, comprising 30 boys’ schools and 9 girls’ schools, across seven agencies.
