Kano Govt Pledges Support for 2025 Nigeria Education Forum Summit

Ahead of the 2025 Nigeria Education Forum Summit, the Kano State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing the state’s education sector through various initiatives.

 This was disclosed by the State Commissioner of Education, Dr. Ali Haruna Makoda, during the inauguration of the Steering Committee for the summit in Abuja.

Dr. Makoda highlighted the administration’s achievements in transforming the state’s education sector under the leadership of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf. Notably, the state allocated 29.75% and 31.5% of its budget to education in 2024 and 2025, respectively. 

The government has also declared a state of emergency in education, addressing challenges such as poor infrastructure, inadequate teacher training, and low student enrollment.

Key initiatives implemented by the administration include constructing and renovating schools, distributing instructional materials, developing infrastructure, and providing school uniforms. 

The Commissioner emphasized the significance of the recent Kano Education Recovery Conference and the introduction of the Education Reform Agenda Policy.

Regarding the upcoming summit, Dr. Makoda assured that Kano State would be fully represented to showcase its plans and needs.

He expressed the state’s determination to support and cooperate with the summit’s objectives. 

The summit, scheduled for December 2025, will bring together participants from all 36 states to discuss critical issues in educational development aligned with the Federal Ministry of Education’s goals.
