Kano Schools Resume Second Term with Good Turnout

Primary and post-primary schools in Kano State resumed for the second term of the 2024/2025 academic session on Monday, January 6, 2025, with a good turnout of teachers and students. The State Ministry of Education reported that most schools opened as early as 7:30 am, with teachers preparing their lesson plans and keeping the school premises clean ¹.

According to the Director of Public Enlightenment, Kano State Ministry of Education, Balarabe Abdullahi Kiru, the turnout of both teachers and students is satisfactory, with only a few cases of absenteeism recorded. The State Commissioner of Education, Dr. Ali Haruna Makoda, appreciated the turnout and urged principals and head teachers to maintain the tempo.

Dr. Makoda also thanked parents and guardians for their cooperation, which he said is contributing to the government’s efforts to boost the standard of education. He reiterated the present administration’s commitment to initiating programs aimed at promoting access to quality education, calling on all teaching staff to work as a team to deliver expected results.

As part of the tradition, the management of the state ministry of education and its parastatals embarked on a schools assessment monitoring exercise to ensure good performance.
