ABU International Studies Alumni Offers Scholarships to 20 Indigent Students
The International Studies Alumni Association of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, has announced plans to offer scholarships to 20 indigent students from the Department of Political Science and International Studies.
This initiative aims to support students who face financial difficulties in pursuing their education.
According to Ambassador Muntari Kaita, National President of the Association, the scholarship will cover registration and tuition fees. The association is currently working on the costing and formalities for the award and plans to disburse the funds to beneficiaries early next year.
In addition to the scholarship, the association is also upgrading the department’s e-library to enhance online learning and exchange of ideas. This project involves installing computers, renovating the e-library building, and providing other necessary facilities.
The association, comprised of diplomats, academicians, journalists, and professionals, has demonstrated its commitment to addressing challenges faced by the department and the university. Some members have offered to provide lecture series to enhance studies and share their experiences. The association has also donated hundreds of books and literary works to the department.
Kaita appealed to ABU alumni to reconnect with the university and support research and development initiatives. The Emir of Zazzau, Ambassador Ahmad Nuhu Bamalli, praised the association’s efforts and pledged his continuous support, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in uplifting academic standards.
