Kano’s Dawanau Market Declares War on Food Adulterers

Kano The Dawanau International Market in Kano State has launched a crusade against food adulteration, vowing to penalize offenders and safeguard its reputation. 

This decision comes after international customers rejected over 50 containers of suspected adulterated products, damaging the market’s image [user input].

Alhaji Muntaka Isa, the market’s president, announced this during an inspection visit, stating that a committee has been established to identify and prosecute culprits. 

The market management is also working with government agencies, including the federal ministries of Trades and Investment, Police Affairs, Health, and Justice, to tackle the issue.

” Establishment of a Quality Control Committee_ to work with government agencies.

” Enlightenment and Mobilization Campaign_ to educate traders on the dangers of food adulteration

” Collaboration with Government Agencies_ to identify and prosecute offenders.

Hajiya Fatima Yakubu, CEO of the Federal Produce Inspection Service Kano Branch, expressed concern over the rising incidence of food adulteration among food produce merchants, urging them to desist from this harmful practice.

The Federal Produce Inspection Services is mandated to inspect and control agricultural produce to ensure compliance with national and international standards ¹.

 This effort by Dawanau International Market is a step in the right direction, and with the support of government agencies, they can curb food adulteration and protect public health.
