KNSG Embarks on Phase 1 of Drainage Clearance Exercise to Prevent Flooding”

The Kano State Government, through the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, has commenced the third day of its Phase 1 drainage clearance exercise within the eight metropolitan local government areas.
The initiative aims to clear waterways and prevent flooding during the rainy season.
The State Commissionerof Environment Nasiru Sule Garo, represented by the Permanent Secretary, inspected various areas, including State Road, Obasanjo Road, and Maiduguri Road, to monitor the ongoing clearance.
He expressed satisfaction with the progress made and urged environment workers and supervisors to maintain professionalism and ensure timely evacuation of waste and debris.
The Commissioner appealed to residents and stakeholders to support the government’s efforts by practicing proper sanitation, clearing drainages and gutters, and using authorized dumping sites.
He commended Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s leadership and commitment to the environment sector, expressing appreciation for his continued support.
The exercise is part of the government’s efforts to maintain a clean and healthy environment, and the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change is working tirelessly to ensure its success.
