The Kano State Commissioner of Education, Dr. Ali Haruna Makoda, has revealed that the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has renovated over 1,200 schools across the 44 local government areas of the state. Additionally, the government has approved N484 million for school renovation at the ward level, a first-of-its-kind project in Kano.

Dr. Makoda stated that the government’s commitment to education is evident in its declaration of a state of emergency on education in May 2024. He also mentioned the approval of N3 billion for the renovation of 13 boarding girls’ schools closed by the previous administration.

The Commissioner emphasized the importance of quality education and the need for a strengthened quality assurance system to monitor, evaluate, and report on teaching and learning activities. He urged participants at a one-day Quality Assurance Workshop to fully engage and cascade the knowledge and skills gained to their respective zones and schools.

The workshop aimed to equip quality assurance officers, directors, and school heads with the skills and tools necessary to drive education excellence and equity in Kano State schools.
