UBEC clear air on Northwest sports competitions

The national headquarter of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) says that they have provided all necessary logistics towards the success of the ongoing UBEC Northwest sports competitions for primary schools boys and girls currently taking at NYSC camp, Dutse, Jigawa state.

While reacting on the story caption: ”participants of UBEC Northwest sports competitions threatens withdrawal,” the head of monitoring Dutse centre and also a staff of the academic department of the commission headquarter, Mrs. Oshiomoba Esther said it has directed the local organizing committee members to made adequate arrangements with a view to improve the facilities.

Mrs. Oshiomoba Esther said that the commission is seriously concerns with the plights of the athletes and something must be done correct those lapses.

She called on the local organizing committee members to continue to work hand in hand with other relevant stakeholders towards the success of the games.

Mrs. Oshiomoba Esther, however, applauded the athletes, coaches and officials for their maximum support and cooperation, urging them to sustain the tempo for the development of sports in the zone and the country at large.

She further hinted that so far, we have seen improvement today Wednesday especially regarding marking the pitches, increase number of match officials among others.

”Honestly speaking such kind of hosting may not be 100 percent, with time goes on you may have to face some little challenges here and there, but just keep continue to improve where necessary to make the athletes, coaches and officials comfort throughout the competition,” she explained.

She advised the athletes, coaches and officials to be good ambassadors to their respective state for the promotion and development of games in the zone and country in general.

The closing ceremony of the three days tournaments will end up tomorrow Thursday at Dutse NYSC camp where the winners and runners up will represent the zone in the final stage of the competition in Abuja later in the year.

Some dignitaries within and outside the state are expected to grace the occasion.
