Factory Explosion at Yongxing Steel Company: Police Launch Investigation

The Kano State Police Command on June 21, 2025 received a distress call about an explosion at Yongxing Steel Company along Ring Road, Mariri Quarters, Kano.
The blast injured 15 people, five of whom later succumbed to their injuries while receiving treatment at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital.
Kano State Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, led a team of responders, including Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) personnel, to the scene.
The area was cordoned off, and five suspected devices were safely recovered.
Preliminary investigations suggest the explosion occurred while a truck loaded with scraps from Damaturu, Yobe State, was offloading at the company’s premises.
The Commissioner of Police has directed a thorough investigation and urged the public to remain calm and vigilant.
