Kano State Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf has been honored with the Media Supportive Award by the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) during its 70th Anniversary Awards and Gala Night in Abuja.
The award recognizes Governor Yusuf’s support for the media profession, commitment to national development, good governance, and press freedom.
Award Presentation
The award was presented to Deputy Governor Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo by Hon. Minister of Information and National Orientation Alhaji Muhammad Idris.
NUJ National President Comrade Alhassan Yahaya cited Governor Yusuf’s exemplary leadership, transparency, accountability, and dedication to public service as reasons for the award.
Response from Deputy Governor
Deputy Governor Gwarzo congratulated Governor Yusuf on the recognition and expressed appreciation to NUJ for acknowledging his contributions to media development and democratic values.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to press freedom, transparency, and responsible governance.
The Deputy Governor announced that Kano State will host the next National Executive Council meeting of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, further solidifying the state’s relationship with the media community.
