Kano Govt Launches Ambitious Urban Renewal Project to Enhance Transportation

The Kano State Government has embarked on an ambitious Urban Renewal Project aimed at improving transportation within the state.
According to the state Commissioner of Works, Engr. Marwan Ahmad, the project involves the rehabilitation of six major roads, including Murtala Muhammad Way, Club Road, and Muhammadu Buhari Way.
He explained that Asphalt overlay and drainage works are currently underway on the six major roads.
Several relief roads across the state are nearing completion and will be launched for use within two to three months.
5-Kilometer Road Projects*: Completed projects in Albasu, Gezawa, Tofa, Dawakin Tofa, and Dambatta have been equipped with solar-powered streetlights.
Metropolitan Solar Streetlight Project*: Phase One and Phase Two are complete, with preparations underway for Phase Three to enhance lighting on more roads in Kano city.
Dan Agundi Flyover Bridge*: Substantial progress has been recorded, with plans to introduce night shifts to accelerate construction and complete the bridge by the end of the year.
These projects are part of the state’s broader initiative to improve road networks across metropolitan and rural areas, enhancing transportation and quality of life for residents.
