Kano – August 18, 2026 – The Member of the House of Representatives for Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency, Abdulmumin Jibrin Kofa, has led All Progressives Congress, APC, stakeholders in Kiru to condemn the alleged burning of political symbols associated with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
A solidarity gathering convened by Kofa on Tuesday in Kiru was in response to an incident involving a prominent Kwankwasiyya figure in the area, Bello Shahus, who was accused of publicly burning caps linked to the President and the Governor, as well as an APC symbol.
Kofa said political differences are part of democracy, but should not degenerate into acts capable of humiliating leaders or threatening peace in the community.
He urged APC supporters to remain calm, united and law-abiding, and assured that the party would defend its leaders and interests through lawful and democratic means.
The lawmaker warned against provocation and intimidation, stressing that APC supporters would not remain silent in the face of actions capable of undermining the dignity of the party and its leaders.
Stakeholders at the gathering reaffirmed their support for President Tinubu, Governor Yusuf and the leadership of the APC. They described the turnout as evidence of the party’s growing strength in the Kiru/Bebeji axis.
