The Kano State Government, led by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, has identified the underlying causes of recent violence in the state, including unemployment, drug abuse, and political motives, particularly from opposition parties based in Abuja.
This revelation came after a meeting between Director General of Special Services, AVM Ibrahim Umar, and leaders of warring thugs from Kofar Mata, Yakasai, Zango, and Fagge, as well as ward heads, at the Kano Government House.
AVM Umar expressed gratitude that the thugs have realized they were being manipulated by politicians seeking to destabilize the state.
The thugs have agreed to work together to restore peace and tranquility, recognizing that violence hinders economic growth.
The state government has pledged to support the thugs’ decision to abandon violence and pursue development, with Governor Yusuf’s administration committed to providing assistance for their positive transformation.
The government will also cover medical expenses for those injured during the violence. AVM Umar urged the opposition party to cease sponsoring violence, warning that the electorate will only support parties promoting peace and stability in the 2027 elections.
Leaders of the opposing thugs, Jibrin Aminu Yakasai and Abdulrazak Sani Abdulkadir, have agreed to end violence and appealed to the government to provide job opportunities for unemployed youths.
The Kano State Government is determined to address the root causes of thuggery and ensure lasting peace and stability in the state.
