Kalu commends Sokoto governor’s projects, urges national unity

Sokoto – Former Abia State governor and Senator for Abia North, Orji Uzor Kalu, has commended Governor Ahmad Aliyu’s development projects in Sokoto State, saying they reflect purposeful leadership and commitment to public welfare.
Kalu made the remarks on Thursday at a dinner hosted by Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko at his Gawon Nama residence in Sokoto, as part of a two-day visit to the state.
He said the infrastructure projects across Sokoto would boost the state’s socio-economic development. He also praised Wamakko for his punctuality and dedication in the National Assembly, describing him as a leader whose example public office holders should follow.
Kalu thanked the government and people of Sokoto for the reception accorded him, and said his relationship with Wamakko was built on mutual respect, national unity and a shared commitment to Nigeria’s progress.
He urged Nigerians to remain united and committed to the country’s peace, stability and prosperity, saying Nigeria was the common heritage of all citizens. He also called for continued support for President Bola Tinubu’s administration and its re-election bid in 2027, and urged Sokoto residents to back Governor Aliyu’s administration.
Speaking on behalf of Governor Aliyu, the Minister of Labour and Employment, Muhammad Maigari Dingyadi, thanked Wamakko for hosting the reception and Kalu for honouring the invitation. He said the visit and Kalu’s participation in project commissioning showed the cordial relationship among political leaders and their shared commitment to national development.
The dinner was attended by Governor Aliyu, Senator Wamakko, former Deputy Governor Mukhtar Shehu Shagari, Dingyadi, the Speaker of the Sokoto House of Assembly, the Secretary to the State Government, the Chief of Staff, the Head of Service, commissioners, federal and state lawmakers, party leaders and other guests.
