Kano, Pastor Victor Majekodunmi Akure has been consecrated as the fourth Bishop of Kano by Calvary Grace International College of Bishops.
The ceremony at Turning Point Faith Arena Ministry attracted Christian leaders and government representatives.
Bishop David Adebayo Bakare led the induction, while Ransom Bello, Presiding Bishop of Calvary Life Assembly International Church, Kano, outlined nine essential qualities for a bishop, including being blameless, self-controlled, and able to teach sound doctrine.
Delivering the officiating sermon, Ransom Bello, Presiding Bishop of Calvary Life Assembly International Church, Kano, emphasised the spiritual and moral responsibilities attached to the office of a bishop.
He outlined nine essential qualities that anyone occupying the position must possess in order to effectively lead the church and serve society.
According to Bello, a bishop must be blameless in character, faithful in marriage, self-controlled, hospitable, and able to teach sound doctrine.
He further noted that a bishop must not be given to drunkenness, must be gentle rather than violent, must not be greedy for financial gain, and must possess the ability to manage his household well.
The cleric explained that these virtues were necessary to maintain integrity, discipline and accountability in church leadership, stressing that the role of a bishop extends beyond pastoral duties to include moral guidance for the wider community.
“Leadership in the body of Christ requires a life that reflects discipline, humility and devotion to God. Anyone called to this office must demonstrate these virtues both in public and in private,” Bello said.
He urged the newly consecrated bishop to remain steadfast in his calling and to use his new position to promote unity within the Christian community and peaceful coexistence among people of different faiths in Kano State.
The event also brought together other bishops affiliated with the Calvary Grace International College of Bishops in Northern Nigeria, including Dr. Ransom S.
