Gov. Yusuf Sympathises with Singer Market Traders Over Fire Outbreak

Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has expressed sympathy with traders and the business community at Singer Market following a fire outbreak that destroyed goods worth hundreds of millions of naira.

The Governor’s message was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.

Governor Yusuf described the incident as unfortunate and distressing, noting that the state government shares in the pain and losses suffered by the affected traders. He assured them of the government’s solidarity and support during the difficult period.

He prayed for Almighty Allah to grant the victims strength and to replace their losses with better opportunities, while also calling for measures to prevent a recurrence of similar incidents across the state.

The Governor directed relevant authorities, including the Kano State Fire Service and other security agencies, to intensify fire prevention measures and public enlightenment campaigns in markets and other commercial centres.

He also disclosed that the state government would explore practical ways, in collaboration with relevant stakeholders, to assist the affected traders and cushion the impact of the losses.

Governor Yusuf further urged traders and business owners to strictly adhere to safety guidelines, particularly in the handling of electrical installations and equipment capable of causing fire outbreaks, in order to protect lives and property.
