HJRBDA MD inspects flood‑hit communities in Jahun, pledges swift intervention

Kano, The Managing Director, Hadejia‑Jama’are River Basin Development Authority (H‑JRBDA), Rabi’u Bichi, has led a team of Engineers and officials on an assessment visit to Akama and Fandai communities in Jahun Local Government Area of Jigawa.
Bichi told newsmen after the inspection visit in Kano on Thursday that followed a formal complaint from the Jahun Initiative and Consultative Forum, warning of recurrent flooding and erosion in the two communities.
During the inspection, Bichi reiterated the authority’s commitment to tackling flooding and erosion within its catchment zones, stressing that the affected areas fall squarely within its operational mandate.
“We will work closely with the local government to provide timely and sustainable solutions,” he assured.
The delegation was received by the Chairman of Jahun LGA, Jamilu Dan- Malam, who commended the prompt response.
Bichi later met with Gov. Umar Namadi, to discuss ongoing drainage and erosion‑control efforts.
On his return journey, Bichi also inspected progress on the Lagos‑Kano‑Dutse‑Katsina‑Maradi railway corridor, describing the project as a transformative initiative under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the railway, once completed, it is expected to boost trade and food security across the Northern corridor.
