Yusuf disburses N104m to 5,200 indigent women

Kano, Gov Abba Yusuf of Kano State on Tuesday inaugurated the disbursement N104million to 5,200 indigent women drawn from the 44 local government areas of the state as part of his administration’s economic empowerment programme.
The News Agency of Nigeria ( NAN) reports that Yusuf said at the ceremony held at the Government House, Kano that each of the women would get N50,000.
Yusuf said the initiative was aimed at fulfilling his campaign promise to uplift the living standard of the women and reduce poverty by promoting self-reliance among vulnerable groups.
He explained that the intervention was designed to stimulate small-scale businesses, boost household income, and enhance the socio-economic status of women across the state.
According to him, women play a pivotal role in economic development and family stability, insisting that administration remains committed to prioritising their welfare through continuous empowerment and skills-support programmes.
Yusuf urged the beneficiaries to invest the funds in meaningful ventures that would enable them to become self-sufficient and contribute positively to the economic growth of their communities.
The Chairperson of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Kano State chapter, Hajiya Saadatu Yusha’u, commended the Governor for his unwavering support towards women empowerment.
She described the initiative as a clear testimony of his commitment to grassroots development.
The beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the state government, assuring that they would make good use of the opportunity to improve their livelihoods and support economic growth at the grassroots.
