Kano Govt. approves N 14 bn for execution of capital projects

Kano, The Kano State Executive Council has approved N 14.8 billion for execution for various development projects across the state. 

The Commissioner of Information and Strategies Ibrahim Waiya disclosed this while addressing newsmen on Friday.

Renovation/Rehabilitation of Sabo Bakin Zuwo Maternity Hospital (Jakara) – ₦364 million.

General Renovation of existing Infrastructure at School of Health Technology Bebeji – N294 million. 

The Commissioner explained that the Supply and Installation of Solar Energy Systems to five Maternity Facilities across the state at the cost of N113.million.

” We are spending over N 112 million for Supply of Drugs and Consumables to Hasiya Bayero, Murtala Muhammad, and Yadakunya Hospitals.

” Renovation/Rehabilitation of Newly Procured House at Zango Quarters, Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital ₦272 million 

” Supply of Working Materials to Two Newly Renovated Wards at Muhammad Abdullahi Wase Teaching Hospital 128 million.

” General Renovation and Construction of Additional Facility at Zakirai Primary Health Care Centre  N379.

He said that the council have approved N 310 million to settlement for Supply of 120,000 Litres of Diesel and 17,000 Litres of PMS (February 2025).

” Rehabilitation of Five Mini Earth Dams in Madobi, Gwarzo, Garun Malam, Kibiya, Ajingi  N169.

In addition to the capital project approvals, the Council also considered and approved a policy matter of significant fiscal relevance.

The Commissioner said that the Council ratified the 2025 Proposed Supplementary and Amendment Budget, amounting to ₦889,277,880,957.81. 

This represents an upward adjustment of ₦169,522,463,294.81 over the originally approved budget of ₦719,755,417,663.00. 

The supplementary appropriation aims to enhance the government’s capacity to deliver on its core mandates and emerging obligations. 

The Council has directed the immediate transmission of the proposed supplementary budget to the Kano State House of Assembly for legislative action and passage into law.
