APC urges EFCC investigate drugs supply to 44 LGAs in Kano

Kano, The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano state has urged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate the alleged misappropriation of funds meant for medical supplies in 44 local government areas.

He also called for the freezing of local government accounts to prevent further misuse of funds.

This is contained in a statement issued by the chairman APC Abdullahi Abba on Sunday in Kano.

He criticized Governor Abba Yusuf’s claim of unawareness about the scandal, suggesting a lack of control or leadership capacity.

” Sale of properties at Radio Kano, Missing funds at Abubakar Rimi Television, Illegal sale of palliatives at the state Agricultural and Rural Development Authority
and Diversion of federal government’s palliatives to the Chief of Staff’s private residence.

Abbas also questioned the effectiveness of the state’s Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission in investigating the matter, citing the chairman’s perceived partisanship and lack of power.

He highlighted a series of alleged financial recklessness involving officials of the ruling New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) government, including controversial contracts, diversion of palliatives, and mismanagement of funds.

Abbas called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate these allegations to ensure accountability and transparency in the state’s governance.

“When contacted, the Commissioner of Information, Baba Halilu Dantiye, stated
that the stated that the state Governor has taken the right decision by directing for immediate investigation into the contract for drug supplies.

Regarding the two interchange roads in the metropolitan area, Dantiye explained that due process was followed and the rightful contractors were awarded the project. The records are there for anybody interested to see.

He expressed surprise and questioned how could Kano APC and its leaders always ran to same court to stop investigation into their activities. If they are clean and have nothing to hide let them allow all the investigations to go on.

And don’t forget people are also calling on the state government to launch investigation into how the former first lady allegedly opened 44 bank accounts only for the purpose of siphoning local governments funds all through their two terms.

Dantiye assured the good people of Kano State that the government of Gov. Abba K. Yusuf will make sure that it delivers on the promises it made to them and ensure that all misdemeanors and non compliance with procurement processes and punished in account with the law.
