Yusuf Reaffirms Commitment to Press Freedom and Media Empowerment

Kano State Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf has reiterated his administration’s dedication to protecting press freedom and empowering media practitioners in the state. 

This commitment was emphasized during the inauguration of the newly elected executive members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Correspondents’ Chapel, Kano State chapter.

The government is willing to support capacity-building and professional development initiatives for journalists.

The Ministry of Information and Internal Affairs will unveil transformative initiatives to positively impact working journalists and uplift the practice of journalism in Kano State.

Governor Yusuf was recently recognized as the “Media Friendly Governor of the Year 2025” by the NUJ.

The newly elected Chairman, Murtala Adewale, pledged to lead with integrity, rebuild unity, and prioritize members’ welfare.

The Chapel plans to pursue partnerships with institutions for capacity-building opportunities and upgrade its secretariat with modern infrastructure.

The Kano State Police Command has pledged to cooperate with journalists in promoting peace and public order.
