The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has criticized the All Progressives Congress (APC) over a recent brawl that disrupted the party’s North-East Consultative Meeting in Gombe State.

The incident has sparked widespread reactions and exposed deep-seated mistrust among key political actors in the region.

Alhaji Abubakar Shamsuddeen, National Chairmanship Aspirant of PDP, emphasized that the party remains committed to peaceful and issue-based politics.

He urged the APC to refrain from engaging in activities that encourage violence.

Shamsuddeen accused certain figures within the APC leadership of escalating tensions through “careless talks and unconscionable acts.”

He questioned how the APC could expect peace when its leaders undermine their own members.

The PDP is concerned that the APC’s violent nature could influence the general election and the public’s perception of violence in politics.

However, the party expressed optimism that the APC’s disarray could work in favor of the opposition.

Commitment to Non-Violence

The PDP reaffirmed its commitment to non-violence and its focus on addressing the challenges facing Nigerians.

The party’s reaction comes amid growing concerns over political tensions in parts of the country as the 2027 general elections approach.

Shamsuddeen’s Vision for PDP

Alhaji Abubakar Shamsuddeen has promised to reposition the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for optimal performance if elected.

He vowed to promote internal democracy, enabling members to contribute to the party’s growth and uphold the ideals of democracy.

Fostering Democracy

Shamsuddeen believes that by promoting internal democracy, the party can develop a more robust and inclusive democratic culture.

Empowering the PDP: With the opportunity, I will prioritize repositioning the party for peak performance, encouraging member participation, and upholding democratic ideals to create a strong and inclusive party culture.

This approach would allow members to participate fully and contribute to the party’s decision-making processes.
