2-Year Anniversary: Dr. Makoda Describes Governor  Yusuf’s 2-Year as Remarkable Achievements

Kano State Commissioner of Education Dr. Ali Haruna Makoda has disclosed  that two years of Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf in office is a remarkable journey that transformed the state education sector.

Dr. Ali Makoda stated this while rejoicing with Governor on the celebration of his two year anniversary as the duly elected Governor of Kano State.

According to a statement by Balarabe Abdullahi Kiru, Director of Public Enlightenment, Ministry of Education, in  Kano on Wednesday. 

Makoda praised Yusuf’s outstanding performance, particularly in the education sector. 

Dr. Makoda noted that the Governor’s achievements have vindicated the people of Kano’s trust in him.

The government declared a state of emergency on education, enabling bold measures to address critical challenges. Key initiatives include:

– Distribution of learning materials to over 8,000 basic and post-basic schools in 2024.

– Allocation of ₦2.8 billion worth of instructional materials to public schools in 2025

These efforts aim to create a conducive learning environment and improve education quality in Kano State.

The administration’s initiatives include:

– Distribution of learning materials to over 8,000 basic and post-basic schools (2024)

– ₦2.8 billion worth of instructional materials to public schools (2025)

– Over ₦2 billion for 125,000 students’ NECO, NBAIS, and NABTEB exams (2024)

– Over ₦3 billion for 141,715 students’ NECO, NBAIS, and NABTEB exams (2025)

These efforts aim to support students and improve education quality in Kano State.

Yusuf  embarked on a robust approach to infrastructural development which made it possible to invest heavily in more than 120 secondary schools across the state with a view to creating conducive learning environment for both the students and teachers.

” Under this, the government is also constructing one upstair block of four classrooms with two offices across the 44 local government areas, out of which most of them have been completed by now” said the statement.

It added that the administration had  refurbished over 70 grounded Girl child shuttle buses to make it easier for students, especially young girls, to commute to school safely and on time.

Other achievements, according to the  statement, include the distribution of school uniforms to over 796,000 pupils across the state, distribution of 73,800 furniture to primary schools as first batch and 16,800 furniture to primary schools as second batch as well as training of over 10,000 teachers on various specialized programmes.
