The Kano State Government has kicked off its 2025 Ramadan Feeding Programme, aiming to provide daily iftar meals to 91,000 vulnerable residents across the state.
This 27-day program is part of the government’s efforts to support its large population of Ramadan observers.
Deputy Governor Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo launched the initiative at the Dandali Centre in Fagge Local Government Area.
He expressed satisfaction with the smooth start and urged catering companies to ensure timely and efficient meal delivery to all feeding centers.
The program will be implemented across 91 designated feeding centers, with catering service providers preparing and delivering 91,000 plates of food per day. Notably, the Kano State Government has allocated N1 billion for the Ramadan feeding program, demonstrating its commitment to supporting vulnerable residents during Ramadan.
This initiative is part of a broader effort by state governments across Nigeria to support Muslims during Ramadan. Other states, including Sokoto, Jigawa, and Katsina, have also launched relief packages for Islamic clerics, organizations, and Muslim residents, allocating over N16 billion for Ramadan feeding and palliatives.
