The Kano State Government has launched an Irrigation Suitability Mapping Tool Research Project at Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology (ADUSTECH) in Wudil.
Deputy Governor Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to education and agriculture development, allocating 31% of its 2025 budget to education, the highest in the federation.
The government has also declared a State of Emergency in education to ensure a comprehensive approach to educational development.
ADUSTECH is a beneficiary of the state’s education agenda, with approved development plans, significant funds to settle outstanding liabilities, and prioritized completion of abandoned projects.
The Irrigation Suitability Mapping Tool is a critical innovation that will enhance farmers’ access to valuable business information and decision-making support. It will benefit the government, financial institutions, input suppliers, and irrigation farmers in Kano State and beyond.
The project is a result of collaboration between ADUSTECH and the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), supported by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
