Anti-graft commission tasks LG officials on financial accountability

Dawakin Kudu ( Kano State), The Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC), has urged Local Government officials to strictly adhere to financial guidelines in administering their affairs.
PCACC Chairman, Mr Muhuyi Magaji, made the call at a three-day workshop in Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area, Kano on Saturday.
The theme of the workshop is : “Intense Capacity Building for All Stakeholders.”
The workshop aims to equip local government chairmen and officials with the necessary knowledge and skills to handle issues of administration.
Magaji emphasised the importance of the workshop in addressing corruption and promoting effective service delivery.
He encouraged participants to ask questions and enhance their understanding of local government administration.
Mr Ibrahim Shazali, the Zonal Commander, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), also urged local government officials to ensure financial accountability.
He said that the commission was critical in the fight against corruption and moving the country forward.
Mr Tajo Mohammad, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, said that the objective of the workshop is to educate local government chairmen and officials on how to effectively handle administration.
The News Agency of Nigeria ( NAN) reports that the workshop was attended by chairmen, secretaries, treasurers, and councillors from the 44 local government councils in the State.
The state Anti-Graft commission established in 2005, had received over 6,350 complaints and recovered over N235 million.
