Kano State Government, Police Command at Odds Over Security Presence at National Tijjaniyya Maulud

By Ahmed Ibrahim
The Kano State Government has expressed strong objections to the presence of security operatives at the National Tijjaniyya Maulud, scheduled for January 25, 2025, at Kofar Mata Stadium. Commissioner Ibrahim Waiya stated that the event will proceed as planned, citing the organization’s legitimate registration.
However, the Kano State Police Command has deployed armed security personnel to counter potential security threats in metropolitan areas. The command received intelligence reports indicating suspected terrorists plan to attack public gatherings. Residents are advised to exercise caution and avoid crowded places until further notice.
The government views the security presence as unwarranted, while the police aim to ensure safety and security. Residents are urged to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.
