Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has assured property owners affected by the Tal’udu Overpass project in Kano State of fair compensation and relocation.
The multi-billion naira project, aimed at enhancing urban beautification, decongesting traffic, and promoting urban renewal, has impacted several properties in the area.
During a meeting with stakeholders and community leaders, Governor Yusuf pledged to provide reasonable compensation to affected property owners through their designated bank accounts.
He also offered to allocate new plots to residents free of charge, allowing them to build new homes.
The Governor emphasized his administration’s commitment to urban renewal, aiming to meet global standards for a mega city.
He highlighted the importance of setting a high infrastructure performance bar to match Kano’s status as Nigeria’s most populous city.
The Tal’udu Overpass project is part of a larger infrastructure development plan, which includes the Underpass Bridge at Kofar Dan’Agundi.
These projects, valued at around N30 billion, aim to enhance vehicular movement, urban beautification, and overall quality of life in Kano State.
Community leaders, such as Chairman Alhaji Abba Aminu Imam, have expressed appreciation for the government’s development efforts.
However, they have also appealed for swift settlement and compensation for affected community members.
In response, the government has established an ad-hoc committee to review the ongoing settlement and compensation plan for the Tal’udu community.
