Gov. Yusuf Donates N100 Million to Kantin Kwari Market Fire Victims

Gov. Abba Yusuf of Kano State has announced a donation of N100 million to traders affected by the recent fire incident at the popular Kantin Kwari Textile market .

The governor made this announcement during a commiseration visit to the market, where he expressed his sympathy to the affected businessmen.

The donation aims to mitigate the effects of the damages to the affected traders, rather than serve as compensation for their losses. 

Governor Yusuf also promised to improve the market’s infrastructure, by  Installation of solar lights, Rehabilitation of road networks ,Construction of drainages and Provision of motorized boreholes.

The governor urged the market management to initiate programs that will assist the hundreds of thousands of traders conducting daily businesses without hitches. 

He emphasized the state government’s commitment to maintaining Kano’s status as the commercial nerve center in Northern Nigeria and some West African countries.

The fire incident destroyed 29 shops, but thanks to the quick response of fire service operatives and kind-hearted individuals, the spread of the fire was contained.

 The chairman of the Market Elders Committee, Alhaji Sabu’u Bako, thanked Governor Yusuf for his concern and called for help in solving the market’s operational problems.
