COEASU Disavows Splinter Group Amidst Peace and Unity Concerns

Kano, The College of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU) at the Federal University of Education, Kano, has distanced itself from a breakaway faction allegedly trying to disrupt peace and unity among union members.
In a letter to the Acting Vice Chancellor, Chairman Ado Abdullahi accused the splinter group of attempting to create chaos by forming a parallel union.
COEASU views this move as an attempt to undermine the transition process initiated by the University Council.
The union emphasized its legitimacy, citing successful operations in other upgraded institutions.
This is not the first time academic staff unions in Nigeria have faced challenges, as strikes have been a recurring issue in the education sector ² ³.
“The splinter group’s actions may compromise the harmony among union members by undermining transition process.
COEASU believes the breakaway faction’s actions threaten the smooth transition initiated by the University Council.
The union has urged management to address the potential threat to peace and smooth transition.
