The Federal University Dutsin-Ma, Katsina State, will award an honorary Doctorate Degree in Political Science to Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Local and Foreign Debts, during its upcoming convocation ceremony.
According to a statement signed by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Armiya’u Hamisu Bichi, the university’s 117th regular meeting resolved to honor Senator Wamakko with the award in recognition of his dedication to democratic ideals since Nigeria’s transition to democracy.
The statement highlighted Senator Wamakko’s remarkable contributions to Sokoto State in various capacities, including as Deputy Governor, Governor, and Senator.
His commitment to education, particularly tertiary education, was also acknowledged by the university’s Senate.
The Vice-Chancellor congratulated Senator Wamakko on behalf of the university’s management and students, expressing hope that the award would encourage him to continue supporting the education sector and the university.
The honorary degree is a testament to Senator Wamakko’s outstanding service and contributions to Nigeria’s democratic growth and development.
