Islamic Year: Gov. Yusuf urges sustained prayers for peace, devt

Kano, Gov. Abba Yusuf of Kano State has congratulated Muslims on the occasion of a new Islamic calendar in the state and admonished them to imbibe the virtues of humility and sacrifice.
This is contained in a statement issued by his Press Secretary, Malam Bature Dawakin-Tofa, in Kano on Wednesday.
Yusuf appealed to Muslim Ummah to celebrate the new Islamic Year with fervent prayers for Almighty God’s intervention on the country’s socioeconomic activities.
He explained that the Hijrah contained certain important moral lessons beneficial to the faithful which, if adhered to, would help in promoting general unity and progress.
He listed some of the lessons as obedience, patience, tolerance, having faith in Allah and self reliance.
“We thank Allah the most High for endowing us with the qualities of brevity, remaining steadfast on trustworthiness and justice, demonstrated by the good people of Kano state in the preceding Islamic Year 1444, hoping such acts would be sustained in this new Islamic Year.
“I want to use this medium to congratulate all Muslim faithful in Kano, Nigeria and across the globe for witnessing the begining of another Islamic Year 1445 After Hijrah of the Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) today, which is equivalent to 19th July in the Gregorian Calendar,” he sai
