Police Arrest Notorious Armed Robber, Recover AK-47 Rifles and N4.9 Million in Kano

Kano, The Kano State Police Command has announced a significant breakthrough in the fight against crime with the arrest of a notorious armed robber and the recovery of two AK-47 rifles with 47 rounds of live ammunition, as well as N4,986,000 in cash.
According to a statement issued by the Command’s Spokesman, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, on Tuesday, the arrest was made possible after a resident of Yandadi village, Kunchi LGA, reported being attacked and robbed of N15,000,000 by armed robbers on August 5, 2024, at 02:00 am.
Despite the ongoing nationwide protest, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Salman Dogo, directed a team of detectives to conduct intelligence-led patrols to apprehend the culprits and recover their operational weapons.
The team arrested the principal suspect, Hassan Iliya, 35, of Alhazawa Village, Musawa LGA, Katsina State, while attempting to escape on a motorcycle at 06:00 am on the same date.
A search of the suspect revealed a sack containing the AK-47 rifles, ammunition, and cash totaling N4,986,000. The Commissioner of Police urges the public to remain patriotic, avoid acts capable of instigating violence, and remain vigilant.
He encourages citizens to report suspicious movements and activities to the Kano State Police Command through the provided phone numbers.
