Kano State Governor Abba Kabir-Yusuf has presented a supplementary budget of N99.2 billion for 2024 to the House of Assembly for approval.
The request was made in a letter read during a plenary session presided over by Speaker Ismail Falgore.
The governor sought approval under Section 122 (A and B) of the 1999 Constitution to accelerate priority projects aimed at improving citizens’ wellbeing.
The supplementary budget allocates N33.7 billion for personnel costs, N34.4 billion for overhead costs, and N30.9 billion for capital expenditure.
Commissioner for Planning and Budget Musa Shanono explained that the initial 2024 budget was N437.3 billion. With the supplementary budget, the total budget would increase to N536.5 billion.
Shanono emphasized that the supplementary budget would cover the new minimum wage payment, infrastructure development, human capital development, and other priorities.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to focusing on these areas.
