Kano City came to a standstill as hundreds of residents gathered to welcome the returning Emir, Muhammadu Sanusi II, after completing his PhD program in London.
The Emir arrived at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport around 3 pm and was received by a massive crowd that had been waiting since morning.
The crowd, comprising mainly youths and some elderly individuals, escorted the Emir to the palace, with many walking barefoot and chanting “Allahu Akbar” (God is great).
The Emir was conferred with a Doctorate degree after successfully defending his research thesis in a Viva Voce assessment.
The Emir dedicated his achievement to the citizens of Kano, saying, “This success belongs to each and every one of you.
I am dedicating it to my loving friends, families, and well-wishers.” The crowd erupted in celebration, marking a joyous return for the Emir.
