Yusuf inaugurates 2nd phase of women empowerment with N260m for 5,200 women

Kano, Gov. Abba Yusuf of Kano State has inaugurated the second phase of empowerment for Women with N260 million for Women in the state.

The scheme is aimed at providing financial support to 5,200 women across the 44 Local Government Areas of the state.

The News Agency of Nigeria ( NAN) reports that Yusuf stated this while presenting N 50,000 cash to each of the beneficiaries at the Government House on Saturday in Kano.

Yusuf said the gesture is aimed at cushioning the economic hardship being people experienced, especially by the women folk with the aim of improving their economic well-being .

He said that his administration has set aside N260 million monthly to fund the scheme, which is part of his administration’s efforts to empower youths, women, and settle pension debts.

” I implore you to make judicious use of this support so that your economic well-being would improve.

” If we really want to address poverty we have to empower people from the grassroots.

“I assure you that we will not relent in ensuring that we fulfill the campaign promises we made during our campaign days,”he said.

He urged them to apply the experiences they acquired during the training to achieve the stated goals.

” I hope you will make adequate utilisation of the funds so that in the near future your businesses will flourish,”he said.

The governor appealed to women to intensify efforts in ensuring proper hygiene, especially this rainy season to enhance effective health care.
He said that his administration has done a lot has in the areas of education, health, and skills acquisition training.

Yusuf said that the empowerment scheme is a testament to his administration commitment to improving the lives of the people.

He explained that arrangements have been concluded to empower the male folk to make them self reliant and employers of labour.

The State Chairman of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Hashimu Dungurawa commended the governor for the initiative.

He described it as a laudable gesture that would go a long way in alleviating the suffering of women in the state.

The scheme is part of the governor’s efforts to fulfill his campaign promises to improve the lives of the people of Kano State.
