KNSG Clarifies Budget Performance, Spends N596m on Furniture and Office Fittings

The Kano State Government has spent N596 million on furniture, office fittings, and other amenities at various ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) in the first and second quarters of 2024.
This amount is significantly lower than the reported N10 billion.
This is contained in a Statement issued by Director General Media and Publicity, Sunusi Bature on Tuesday.
He said that , the administration prioritizes budget realism, transparency, and accountability.
The Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning released the second-quarter budget performance report on July 28, 2024, but it contained errors.
The correct figures show that N295.8 million was spent in the first quarter and N300.7 million in the second quarter on furniture and office fittings, totaling N596.5 million from January to July 2024.
The Accountant General’s office is available to provide information on request.
The government regrets any inconvenience caused by the misleading report and has directed the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning to review the template for future budget performance reports to ensure accurate data.
