Kano, The Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) has called on the Federal Government to adopt a non-kinetic and robust approach to combat the escalating insecurity in the North.

This appeal was made in a communique issued after a stakeholders’ engagement with northern artistes, social media influencers, and bloggers in Kano on Friday.

According to the communique read by CNG National Coordinator, Comrade Jamilu Aliyu Charanchi, the group emphasized the need for collective efforts to fight various crimes in the North, including kidnapping, armed banditry, farmer-herders conflict, and drug abuse.

The CNG stressed the importance of close ties and strong synergy between all three tiers of government to effectively tackle the insecurity menace ravaging the region.

The group commended the recent successes achieved by security forces in the fight against armed bandits and emphasized the need for a non-kinetic approach to mobilize societal participation in addressing the lingering insecurity challenges.

The CNG decried the negative effects of banditry, kidnapping, cattle rustling, and farmers-herders clashes on the region’s socio-economic development and urged the government to adopt a more comprehensive approach to address the issues.
