Niger Police Arrests 4 Suspected Over Phone Deals, 9 for Robbery

Niger State Police command has arrested five phone repairers at the Minna popular Obasanjo Commercial Complex for allegedly buying and selling stolen phones.
Police spokesman in the state, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, while parading the suspects, said the buyers were disclosed to the police by the suspects arrested in connection with robberies at Morris, Brighter, Mandela, Tunga, Farm Centre, David Mark Road and Mobile Quarters areas of Minna.
He gave the names of the suspects as Ahmed Sani, Balarabe Abdullahi Abubakar, also known as Mourinho, Auwal Saidu and Abdulkareem Musa , as well as Safianu Ibrahim a phone repairer at the Chanchaga Area.
Abiodun said One Murtala Junaidu a tricycle rider residing in the Makera area of Minna was also arrested with a tricycle for conveying robbers during their operations between the hours of ten at night and five in the morning.
Similarly, Nine robbery suspects arrested by the police in Niger State have allegedly attempted to bribe a Divisional Police Officer (DPO) with five hundred thousand naira to terminate their case.
The State Police Command’s spokesman, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, while parading the suspects said they were arrested by police operatives attached to Tafa Division on the Kaduna-Abuja highway at Sabon-Wuse in Tafa Local Government Area.
Abiodun explained that, the vehicle’s body was found to have been riddled with some bullet impacts and occupied by nine men suspected to be criminal-minded persons.
He noted that during interrogation, the suspects confessed to the crime and claimed that they had a warehouse in Akwanga where they kept their loot, while they sold the items in Kano State.
