Tension Grips Kano as Two Emirs Emerge, Occupying Separate Palaces

Kano, Nigeria – Tension has escalated in Kano State as a result of the Emir of Kano tussle, with both deposed Emir Sanusi Lamido Sanusi and dethroned Emir Aminu Ado Bayero occupying separate palaces.
Emir Sanusi has taken over the main Emir palace, while Emir Bayero has moved into the Emir’s guest house, Gidan Nasarawa.
The state government, led by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, has relocated to the Emir palace, while heavy security personnel are deployed across the state to maintain order.
The Emir of Kano, Malam Lamido, has emerged with traditional title holders, and a high-level meeting is ongoing at the police headquarters, led by the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Husaini Gumel, and other security operatives.
As of the time of filing this report, tension has taken over the state capital, with uncertainty surrounding who amongst the two Emirs will step down, following the existing court order of the Federal High Court, which stipulated that the status quo should be maintained.
The situation remains volatile, with many fearing a potential showdown between supporters of the two Emirs.
The standoff has created a tense atmosphere in the state, with many calling for calm and restraint.
The situation is being closely monitored, and efforts are being made to resolve the impasse peacefully.
