Kano, Sight Savers International and Digital Bridge Institute have joined forces to empower 24 persons with disabilities (PWDs) in Kano and Lagos with cutting-edge IT skills.

The training program, aimed at promoting information technology knowledge and self-employment among PWDs, has been hailed as a significant step towards inclusivity and empowerment.

During the graduation ceremony of the first cohort in Kano, Executive Director of Sight Savers International, Dr. Sunday Isyaku, emphasized the importance of IT skills in today’s digital age.

He noted that the program was designed to equip PWDs with Cisco-certified technical skills, enhancing their employability and entrepreneurial potential.

The partnership between Digital Bridge Institute and Sight Savers International, established in June 2023, has already yielded impressive results.

The first cohort of 24 PWDs has successfully completed the rigorous training, and another 25 participants in Kano and 25 in Lagos are set to begin their journey.

Graduates Peter Boyi and Bilkisu Mohammed expressed their gratitude to the organizations, pledging to utilize their newfound skills to make a positive impact.

This initiative serves as a shining example of inclusive development, bridging the gap between ability and opportunity.
