The recent increase in electricity prices has sparked outrage among small-scale industrialists, who are already struggling to stay afloat amidst numerous challenges.

The National Association of Small Scale Industrialists has voiced its concerns, stating that the new tariff poses a significant threat to the survival and growth of small-scale industries across the country.

According to the Association’s Chairman, Aminu Ibrahim Kurawa, “The sudden increase in electricity prices has placed an unbearable burden on small-scale industrialists, who operate on thin profit margins.

Any additional increase in operating costs, such as electricity tariffs, directly impacts their ability to remain competitive in the market.”

Kurawa warned that the new tariff plan will effectively kill the small-scale industrial sector, leading to widespread unemployment, insecurity, and social unrest.

He urged the relevant authorities to reconsider the new electricity tariff and engage in meaningful consultations with stakeholders from the small-scale industrial sector.

The Association emphasized that small-scale industrialists play a crucial role in driving economic growth, creating employment opportunities, and fostering innovation, and therefore, their interests should be prioritized by government agencies, regulatory bodies, and policymakers.

In a passionate plea, Kurawa said, “We cannot afford to be stifled by exorbitant electricity tariffs that threaten our very existence. We urge all stakeholders to support rather than hinder our growth and development.”
