Ramadan: Dawakin Tofa LG distributes palliatives to 1,600 indigents

The Interim Caretaker Chairman, Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State, Dr Kabiru Ibrahim-Danguguwa, has distributed 10-kg sacks of grains and 110 cartons of spaghetti to 1,600 indigent persons in the area.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the gesture is aimed at cushioning the effects of current economic bite and earn Allah’s favour in the holy month of Ramadan.

Speaking while distributing the items at Doguwa on Saturday, Ibrahim-Danguguwa said, the primary objective of the exercise was to ameliorate the hardship being experienced by people within the local government.

He stressed the need for elected and appointed politicians as well as other spirited individuals in the society to assist the less privileged, considering the current economic challenges.
He listed items distributed to include; beans, rice, millet and maize.

The chairman appreciated Dawakin Tofa Business Community and Dawanau Market Association for their collaborative efforts in providing the necessary assistance towards the success of the exercise.

He assured that, with collaborative efforts of both state and local governments, the gesture would be sustained.

A cross section of beneficiaries, who spoke to NAN, expressed delight over the gesture, describing it as the first of its kind in the area.
