Worshippers extol Gov Aliyu’s humility as he shares plate, spoon with less-privileged child

Governor Ahmed Aliyu’s simplicity and humility on Sunday evening manifested itself more when he shared a plate and spoon with a less- privileged child during the breaking of the day’s fast.

This came to fore when the Governor paid an unscheduled visit to one of the Ramadan feeding centers in Gidan Dare area of Sokoto North Local Government Area.

On arrival at the centre just few minutes ro iftar,Governor Aliyu sat comfortably in the midst of the less-privileged people who had already lined up in an orderly manner, and began to eat in the same plate and spoon with one of the indigent children close to him.

The Governor equally shared a satchet of pure water and orange with the boy, a situation that many found strange and amazing.

Earlier on arrival at the center, Governor Aliyu inspected the food being served people coming to eat and wondered why the food being served the members of the feeding committee differed from the one given to the majority of the people eating at the center.

“Why should there be meat in the food served the members of the feeding committee while none is given to the majority of people sitting here.

“This situation must change, there shouldn’t be any difference or discrepancies in the food served here. Therefore people should be treated equally,” he added

Governor Aliyu warned the members of the feeding commitee at the center to sit up and do the needful by ensuring that people are given quality food.

He vowed to continue to monitor the feeding centers to ensure that the taxpayers money being spent on the feeding programme is judiciously utilized.
