Kano Govt. earmarks N4.6bn for Senate building at Saadatu Rimi varsity

Kano, The Kano State Government has earmarked N 4.6 billion for the construction of Senate building and other infrastructural projects at Saadatu Rimi University of Education.

The Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Isa Yahaya Bunkure, disclosed this while addressing newsmen on Friday.

Bunkure said that since its inception, the Institution had received tremendous financial and moral support from Governor Yusuf’s administration.

He said that the administration’s tremendous support had created a conducive atmosphere for teaching and learning at the institution.

The VC said Governor Yusuf had demonstrated zeal and commitment towards uplifting the standard of education from primary education up to tertiary level by appropriating the sum of over twenty nine billion Naira to Education in the 2024 Budget.

He said that the measure would pave way for massive development of education in the state.

” Governor Yusuf approved the sum of over four billion Naira for infrastructural development in Saadatu Rimi University of Education,among which were construction of a modern and befitting senate chamber.

” We are highly pleased with this concern for the development of the educational sector exhibited by governor Yusuf”,he said.

The Vice Chancellor maintained that the University has completely been transformed from a college of Education to a full fledged University of Education, recognized by the National Universities Commission,and the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

“We are now a full-pledged university of Education with our license from the National Universities Commission Abuja,with all the salient requirements satisfied, ” he said.

The vice chancellor noted that as a result of completing all the requirements of a University,the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board also gave the University an admission quota of two thousand and ninety candidates for Admission into the University for the 2023/2024 academic session.

” Another aspect of our upgrade to a full pledged University is the aspect of getting qualified man power, which comprises of Academic and non-academic staff.

“We have a total number of one thousand three hundred and twenty two staff ,out of which eight hundred and seventy six are academic staff, while three hundred and seventy one are non academic and seventy five are teaching in our staff school “, the VC said.

He added that the University have more academic staff with higher degrees than those with bachelor’s degree,stressing that this was a rear demonstration of its readiness to deliver quality education.
