KSADP show cases achievement at National Agric shown in Nasarawa.

Kano State Agro-pastoral Development Project, KSADP, is participating in the National Agricultural Show, to increase visibility of its wide array of projects and services, aimed at transforming the economy of Kano state, through developing agro-pastoral production systems.

KSADP,Ameen Yassar on Thursday in Kano.
The National Agricultural Show is one of the largest agricultural events in Nigeria, which brings together farmers, agribusinesses, policy makers, researchers and other stakeholders.
It provides opportunity for exhibitors to showcase their products and services as well as latest agricultural technologies.
The Agricultural Show is organized by the National Agricultural Foundation, the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and the All Farmers Association of Nigeria and hosted in Karu, Nassarawa state, from 20th – 24th November, 2023.
At the event, which was declared open by the Minister of Agriculture, Senator Abubakar Kyari, Kano State Agro-pastoral Development Project, KSADP, funded by the Islamic Development Bank and the Lives and Livelihood Fund, LLF, showcased some of its achievements including the flagship Dansoshiya Grazing Reserve Development Project, which has attained appreciable level of completion.
Visitors from all over Nigeria also used the occasion to inspect prototypes of various projects executed by the KSADP including 100 milk collection centres, 20 slaughter houses, five livestock markets, Dawanau International Grains Market infrastructure and the Commercial large scale fodder production project, at the project’s stand.
Abdullahi Isyaku Raba, KSADP’s Crops Specialist, who represented the Project Coordinator, Ibrahim Garba Muhammad, explained that the project’s interventions in the crops and legumes value chains as well as the livestock sector will impact 1. 2 million peasant farmers and pastoralists, pointing out that the results have begun to manifest.
“One of our major interventions, which is the renovation of Watari dam infrastructure and the expansion of the Watari Irrigation Scheme by 1,005 hectares, is a giant step towards improving food and nutrition security in Kano, in addition to creating thousands of jobs”.
“The Watari project and all the projects we are have done or are doing, with the support of the Kano state government, such as the Gwale Vet Reference laboratory, the renovation and upgrade of the Kadawa Animal Insemination Center, construction of grains and crop residue aggregation centres, construction of rural access roads as well as the livestock fattening and reproduction schemes, among several interventions, are geared towards helping reduce poverty, raise incomes and enhancing food security”.
